Hi Ms. Tingle!
I've been a nurse for over 2 years, and I wanted to become a nurse since I was in high school. My mom is also a nurse and she inspired me to explore this career. After high school, I began nursing school directly and became a nurse when I was 21. Regardless of age, you can become anything you want to be at any point in life :)
Hope this helps!

Hi,
I knew I wanted to be in the medical field at a very young age (first grade).
I realized in Middle School (7th grade). That I wanted to be a nurse. After graduating high school I enrolled in my local community college to pursue nursing. I then further my education, and enrolled in Nursing School at the University of Memphis.
I’ve been a RN for 4 years. I’ve been working in the medical field for 7 years.
I love it!!
Good Luck !!

I decided I wanted to work in the healthcare field during high school. Nursing seemed to be a logical choice to me, although science wasn’t my favorite in high school (surprisingly). My dad had some medical emergencies while I was home during high school. I ended up being impressed by how the medical professionals were able to use their knowledge to jump in and save his life!
I ended up going to a 4 year university. I had a year of prerequisite courses (science based) before applying to nursing school. Of note, volunteer work is also an important part of the nursing school application. For anyone who is interested in heathcare, I would recommend seeking out opportunities that will expose you to various age groups and those who have different backgrounds than you. Good luck!

I went to college when I graduated from high school to take general education courses (1 year). Once I completed general education courses, I went to nursing school for 2 years and became a Registered Nurse. 3 years in total before I became a Registered Nurse. I went back to school to complete my Bachelor's Degree and later completed my Master's Degree in Business. Stay focused! I 100% believe in you! You can do it!

Hi Ms. Tingle,
During my junior year, I had to opportunity to volunteer at various healthcare settings: dentist office, physical therapy office, and hospital. After experiencing this, I knew that I wanted to work in the medical field. It was when I was applying to colleges that I decided to pursue nursing. I was intrigued by the various specialties a nurse can practice and the amount of schooling it takes to become one (4 years). While in nursing school, I've come across nurses of multiple timelines. Some knew out of high school similar to me, while others pursued other careers and discovered their love for nursing at a later time. I hope this helps and best of luck to your students.
