Certainly, it depends on your field of study, and of course, advanced degree programs are going to be more demanding than an undergrad program. That being said, I recently completed my BA in Liberal Arts through Southern New Hampshire University's online program. I have a full-time job, so I only took one course at a time. At 8 weeks per term, it took me 2 years to graduate. Online education requires a certain degree of self-discipline and a willingness to engage with your classmates and instructor without the face-to-face interaction that you get from being in a physical classroom. Also, a common challenge faced by all "non-traditional" students is that the demands of work, home and family still need to be met. I feel fortunate that I had a fantastic academic advisor who encouraged me, kept in touch, and had a genuine interest in helping me succeed.
I wish you the best of luck.
