"I think it's really rewarding to sort of ease this little portion of their health care. We're only one test out of everything they go through, but it's nice to be a pleasant experience for them," she says. "And it's always rewarding to scan patients and see that their tumors are shrinking and that their therapies are working, but that's not a daily occurrence but it's happy [when it does happen]."

Nuclear medicine combines patient care, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer technology, and medicine. Nuclear medicine technologists prepare and administer radioactive substances called radiopharmaceuticals, as well as other medications, to patients to aid in the diagnosis and treatments of various ailments. It's a career with a promising outlook and exciting oppotunities.
I would recommend checking out the Society of Nuclear Medicine's website (http://www.snmmi.org/) for more details and also Radiology Today magazine (radiologytoday.net/)
