After being in broadcasting for 15 years in a variety of roles including announcer, creative and production. I found that I made best income as a account executive selling advertising, sales manager and then general manager of operations. It helps that you have experience in all cross functional areas for leadership or customer facing (advertiser) roles.

Thank you for your question, Tyler.
First of all, I'd love to tell you that I was in the same mindset as you at the beginning of my college years – planning what I love to do as my career and planning to make the most money out of it.
But little did I know back then that the broadcasting/media communications career field doesn't work that way.
There's no "career" in Broadcasting/Media field that makes the most money. Rather position and your years of experience are what it really matters.
So when you are still in school, try your best to get internships in companies where you want to work for later. I'm sure you have a vision of yourself in 5 years, 10 years. To be completely honest, if you don't do internships or part-time production assistant jobs for companies you are interested while you are in school, you will fall behind after you graduate. The reason is once you are out of school, companies you want to work for will hire people with prior experience with them.
It is never too early or too late to do something. But if you really want to land a job and grow fast in a Broadcasting field, start your internships early (sophmore/junior yr of college).
Find connections. Stay connected. I write this from experience.
Once you are in the field, get your name out, prove your worth, and work hard. Before you know it, you will be successful in your career.
For income aspect, it all depends on years of experience as I mentioned above. Also, don't overlook the reality that Broadcasting entry jobs pay so little. You really have to be patient and work your way up to earn what you vision yourself earn.
Hope this explains a bit. I'm sure you'll do fine. :)

Hello Tyler,
Thanks for your question.
First of all, I am not able to tell you where you are able most of the money in broadcasting.
However, no one should ever make the career decision on where you get most of the money.
You should seek and build-up your career on your strengths and what makes you fun.
