Hi Brandon, great question! Having a love for baseball and the ability to play it well will definitely help you if you decide to go to college, too! It's possible you may qualify for or be awarded a sports scholarship to come and study and play at some university. What does this mean for you now? 1) Keep playing ball, learn from your coaches and other players, and keep developing your skills, 2) Stay in school if possible and keep up with your classes and assignments! Many schools evaluate athletic players by their skills on and off the field, so try and do decently in your school work. That doesn't mean that you have to be a "straight As" student, but you should show some academic ability and GPA (like C or better, I assume!) Since some courses in school are challenging and may not be of personal interest, so be open to seeking help from other students, the teacher, your family and friends, or a tutor if you need assistance to get through the class (always give it your best!) Here's a real life example: I know a young man who was recruited to play in the farm leagues by the Minnesota Twins out of high school. However, he also had the opportunity to go to the University of Michigan and play baseball for the college team, too. I believe he made a wise choice to go to UM, because he has some ability to succeed at school and a higher education will benefit him whether or not he's playing baseball! Plus the Twins and other teams will still be interested in him after he's finished playing college ball, too! So use your noodle and think through, "What's best for me not only now, but long term, too?" Finally, I wish you success as you pursue your dream!
