Hi Juan,
My friend's mom is a dental hygenist. She told me that her mom likes being a dental hygenist because she gets to meet new people. At the same time, she doesn't have to talk too much with the patient since they are unable to when they are getting their teeth cleaned.
Her mom doesn't mind blood and does not get grossed out easily with bad breath or throw up. Dental hygienists make a good living and like to help people. So if you think you're like my friend's mom, being a dental hygenist may be a good role for you!
Best of luck!

Juan,
I have been a dental hygienist for many years. I suggested you ask to observe a dental hygienist at you current dental office. You will observe how a hygienist has a strict schedule to follow. You will see how the hygienist uses the dexterity of their hands to clean the patients teeth. The hygiene appointment will include many tasks such as the dental exam by the dentist, updating patient health histories, taking dental x-rays, providing dental homecare instructions such as brushing and flossing, providing smoking cessation, dietary information for caries control and many other tasks. If you are interested in the health sciences this would be a profession for you. You will take the courses you sound interested in such as anatomy that will include head and neck anatomy. Keep investing time in gathering information on careers you are interested in.
I wish you the best of luck in your future!

The best way to know if you'd like a job is to try it! Look into internships, ask your dental hygienist how they came to their career decisions, and make a note of how you feel about what you find out. Take a look at what education you need to become a dental hygienist and see if the courses seem like something you would be interested in.
Also, think about if being a dental hygienist fits with the lifestyle you want to have. Would the hours be ones you would want to work? Is the pay something you feel would comfortably support the life you want?
