In fact, every job & career is essential and important. We need someone to work the jobs to keep the world running. If you would like to be fully dedicated to your career, you should choose a career you have most interested with. I understand that you are interested in communication & writing and politics.
Would you consider to become a journalist or politician? Both of these careers require the aforementioned skills. I would suggest you can do more research in these areas and explore any intern possibility to work for the press or politicians. It can help you understand the daily life of these careers. Hence, you can take the relevant subjects in your tertiary education.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

There is not one right answer to your question. You can take some career aptitude tests to get some suggestions as someone posted above. I took a test when I was in college that looked at 8 specific areas of interest; I scored equally high on 6 of the 8 areas. I asked my professor what this meant, and he explained that I would either need to A) find a diverse career that met all of my interests or B) find a career that met some of my interests and utilize my hobbies to fulfill the rest of my interests. I say this to explain you may not end up in a career field that has to do with children, communication, or politics. There are careers that exists where all three interests are combined such as the Secretary of Education, but you will likely have to focus on one or two areas. You may only work in a communication-related field and work with kids at an after-school program on the side.
I would suggest thinking about your purpose. What brings you joy? What do you find fulfillment in? What do you value? Finding a purpose in your work will be the most beneficial in choosing the career for you. Being rich and successful is the ultimate dream, but it is not something that comes to most people. Being able to match your purpose with your career will help you find value.

The career decision is based on the thing that makes you passionate. In the meantime you may have many jobs,(all learning experiences) that contribute to your knowledge. There so many ways, teaching, social work, politics are all great options, but what do you know about them on a more personal level. Is that what you really want to do. It's time to do some research on these things, while remaining open to just about anything that may come your way.
Volunteering is a great way to get exposure to various situations.
You may volunteer for a political campaign get right in the middle of it and think to yourself;
"This is me!!" Your excited, empowered, totally ready to commit.
You way volunteer at a school and just can't see yourself anywhere else, except with the kids.
You might decide that being in politics will help more than working with social issues on the ground, and could get better equipment for schools
With the new digital age, getting a message out to world is not as far fetched as it may have seemed at one point
What will your message be when you get the chance to be heard?!?!?
Will what you say and do make you a famous personality. Will people see your with full dedication?
Continue to improve you communication and writing skills.
