If you don't know what you would want to do with a college degree, I would recommend looking at trade jobs and seeing if any of them appeal to you, such as electrician, welding, or plumbing. These jobs pay well and you can get into them straight away after getting your certification. People in trade jobs often end up doing quite well for themselves, especially because not a lot of people are going into trade jobs and they're in increasingly high demand.

The tertiary education gives us a lot of experiences in addition to the knowledge you acquire. You can join the committees the student union and different societies. This is precious experience to organize activities and establish network with different people. On the other hand, the courses in the tertiary education emphasizes to train up your critical thinking and creativity.
To me, the life of tertiary education is one of most happiest and enjoyable days. Though you can attend tertiary education later when you grow older, the feeling may be different to have a lot of the peers about the same age.
Also, there are jobs requirement that requiring you have at least a undergraduate degree especially on professional careers. Therefore, I would suggest you consider carefully on your career path before making your decision.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Kirstie’s Answer

Hi! There are many different paths people take after high school. Some people go straight into college, others work full time, join volunteer organizations like the the Peace Corp, enroll in the military, etc. I think it's important to understand what your options are and then discuss these options with your school counselor and your family. I did not go to college after graduating high school. Instead, I took a full time job working in the retail industry. Eventually, I secured employment with a telecommunications company that offered tuition assistance. I used that benefit to graduate with a degree in Business Administration, at no cost to me! My journey is only one of many paths you can take. Whatever path you choose will come with pros and cons. If you take the time to weigh all of your options and be intentional about your plan, I have no doubt you will be successful. Good luck to you!
