I would suggest get out in the field to practice and pickup experience! This is a role that has an 'art' to it that you will continuously refine as you get more direct experience on the job. Find a tour guide company that will allow you to shadow and hopefully eventually employ you and learn the art. Good luck!

You should research on-line what certifications and diplomas may be needed to be a tour guide. You can do this with simple internet search (as quick look turned up this: https://theghumakkads.in/how-to-become-tourist-guide-in-india/ and this: https://www.indiaeducation.net/careercenter/professional-courses/tourist-guide/ ). It seems like a strong background in history, art, archeology, and culture are helpful, but do your own research. Also, talk with local tour guides to ask them about their career paths.
