Hi Faith,

The classes you take within your major will depend on the program at the school you choose to attend. You might be able to find this information on the website of the schools you are considering, I would try looking under the specific department--in your case Psychology. Every school will have their own requirements to meet graduation criteria. In most cases, you will be able to select the bulk of the types of classes you take so long as they fulfill a certain category of the major. For instance, I was an English major so I had to take a Shakespeare class, but I was able to select which of the Shakespeare classes offered I wanted to take based on my class schedule.

Hope that was helpful. Best of luck!

Rebecca’s Answer

Yes, it depends on the school. Usually if you go to the school's main page and search in the search bar for the major, the course requirements will be linked to a bulletin or listed on the site. You can expect some combination of developemental pscyh, social psych, cognitive psych, possibly a statistic course (depending on the school), abnormal and personality psych. You can read general course descriptions in the university catalog/bulletin, or departmental website.

Rebecca recommends the following next steps:

Research the undergraduate psychology major requirements at various different colleges and universities.
