Kashay,
I never joined the military, although I sometimes wish I had. However, I worked with a lot of military people when I was a police officer, and, later, when I went to work at a State Workforce Office, assisted many Veterans in their job searches.
Generally speaking, people who were in the military present themselves in a more professional manner. They make good eye contact, and have a firm handshake. They follow instructions, and ask good questions.
Beyond that, the military helps you develop a sense of self-confidence. You will learn to believe in yourself, and know that you can tackle almost any challenge. I believe this is very important for young people. I've seen too many people stay in bad relationships because they don't think they can go it alone. I think the military survival mentality is important for everyday living in our society.
The military also teaches you to work as a team, and to develop a sense of ingenuity when approaching difficult tasks. You learn to think about the future. You learn to think about training and schooling, and financial management skills.
Twenty-two year olds with 4 years of military service are miles ahead of 22 year-olds with no military service. They have maturity.
Thank you for your interest in serving our country. I hope this answer has helped!

Kashay,
Checkout this link. If you scroll down a little there are links to the benefits of the Army and all the other Service Branches. Base Pay, Medical, Retirement and such are all the same. Each branch has educational benefits that can vary from branch to branch. The main difference will be occupational specialties available and lifestyle as each branch has it's own culture driven by tradition.

Hi, Kashay,
The link below is a good starting point to understand some of the benefits of serving in the Army. Choosing to serve in the Army is a big decision. I was an infantry officer for four years after I graduated from college. Think carefully about what you want to do in the Army (check out the second link below) and why you want to join.
I hope those links help. If you have any follow-up questions, feel free to add a comment to this response. Good luck!
