I would recommend talking to an admissions counselor at the school you want to transfer to. They will be able to tell you how many credits will transfer and go over graduation requirements to tell you how long it would take to complete your degree. I transferred, and all my credits were able to transfer, but the two schools had different writing requirements, so I had to take 2 additional courses at my new school. (Old school designated certain courses as 'writing intensive' and counted those, new school required 2 specific English composition courses). Unless you are switching to a very different degree it shouldn't take you longer than normal to graduate. I did it in 4 1/2 years - with a change of major and transferring schools. I did take 1 or 2 summer classes though.

Hi Tiffanie,
I believe it depends, mostly on whether the college you are transferring to will accept credits from the college you are transferring from, and how many. If they accept all, then you should be on track to graduate in four years. If they accept some or none, you might need to say an extra semester or take extra classes to make up for it. I hope this helped, and best of luck!

It all depends upon how many courses you new school will accept from your current school. You shouldn't have to miss time if most or all of your courses are accepted. If you are currently in a 2 yr college, chances are the 4 yr will not take accept all of your credits.

Hi Tiffanie! Most college degrees require 120 credits so it really depends upon the number of credits you have when you transfer.
