Where should I go to seek local employment?

I am a high school student seeking part-time work. #career-choice

Thank you comment icon First of all, search google to the best of your ability specifically searching for part-time, student work in your specific area. If that doesn't pan out any potential jobs, start driving around to any nearby drug stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Many of these stores will be offering summertime work and probably have posters or signs up with information about open positions for teens. If even that doesn't work then start asking around, many older students probably have secured part time jobs so asked them where they applied and if they could help get you in. Some places may not have posters up, but you should still ask if they have any positions open. I hope this helps, Good Luck! Quinton

Look online by searching companies' career website, create your profile on Monster.com, Dice.com, Indeed, Linked In... these are just a few common things to do.

Hello

Look into The Panera stores in your area and ice cream / yogurt shops. Another idea is car washes.

Hi Stan!

An important first step would be: what would you like to do on a part time job?

One helpful way of looking at the question would be: what are my career plans and how can I get relevant experience on a part time job?

Where do you like to go now? How do you spend your free time? That will give you a good idea of where you should begin looking. Do you like the mall? Apply at your favorite stores. (Some malls are slow-paced and can be a great place to learn.) Do you play video games? Apply at Game Stop. If you need a lot of structure or are nervous try McDonald's or companies that have a lot of training for first time employees. Bakeries, museums, gyms...the options are endless. Where ever you find yourself, ask an employee how to get a job there.

Go to snagajob, craigslist and indeed job sites. Snagajob is more local and HS specific. Consider making a list of things you would be willing to do with your name and phone number and pass it out in your neighborhood. Wash car, detail inside of cars run errands, dog walk, or sit, wash windows, yard work, shovel snow, tutor, baby sit or ? Google your question! The best!
