There are a number of American Universities with excellent Veterinary programs.
The top rated programs are, as of 2016:
University of California, Davis
Cornell
Colorado State
North Caroline State
Ohio State
University of Wisconsin
Texas A&M
University of Pennsylvania
University of Minnesota
Keep in mind that just because a University is not in this list does not mean a school does not have an excellent program. I suggest you consider external factors when making your decision. Consider questions like these to help you decide:
- What is the cost of living for each of these schools?
- What is the average total cost of tuition, books, room and board?
- Do you have family near a University that would be willing to help with living arrangements?
- What scholarships are available that you qualify for?
- Is there a specialized area of veterinarian medicine that you have an interest in and is there a school that offers a program for that specialization?
Lastly, remember that far more important than the University you choose is your passion and interest for your chosen future profession, how you choose to apply yourself and what you will learn both during your schooling and long after you have graduated!
