How did you balance attending graduate school with having a social life?

I am an aspiring law student and I am worried about continuing social and spiritual obligations with attending courses in graduate school and especially studying for the bar exam #graduate-school

Stephani’s Answer

It;s tough, and you will have to give up some of your social life. As long as you stay focused and organized it is doable if you plan your time out correctly. I work full time, am in grad school, and I'm currently doing clinicals for nursing education. It's very busy, and I definitely can't say I haven't lost some of my social life, but I have managed so far and I'm done in May! You can pull it off!

David’s Answer

Two ways to balance that I think.

One is to make trade offs as Stephani said and balance the best you can. I did grad school while working and even got married in the midst of it. So it's definitely possible! And it's definitely hectic but it will fly by and you'll be amazed by what you are able to accomplish.

Second way is to just combine the two! One of the most important aspects of graduate schools is to make connections. So why not overlap your "social life" with those who are in your school/field? Studying, eating, and commiserating with each other is a great way to build a bond that will last a lifetime.

I hope this helps, and good luck!
