Not only as an Art Director would you go to meetings Justin, you will be running most of them. Art directors attend planning meetings and makes presentations to agency staff and clients to decide the strategic and creative direction of a project. They also use their creative expertise to interpret a client's vision and make it a tangible and deliverable product. In addition to supervisory and management functions like hiring and evaluating creative staff, art directors interact with other agency departments to maintain communication and insure client's will be happy with their advertising campaign or other related work. Art directors also oversee the creation of visual material for advertisements, print publications, product packaging, film productions and other outlets. Art directors typically manage other staff members, including designers, artists and writers. They may look over specific elements, such as design concepts, original or stock artwork, layouts and the stylistic components of written materials. They may also create budgets and deadlines, collaborate with other departments like copywriting or production and communicate with clients throughout the project's lifespan.

No question, the ability to deliver out-of-the-box, groundbreaking, and inspiring ideas, while thinking across all media the art director is responsible for a project’s entire identity – from the way, something looks, to the emotion a project produces. However, although an art director oversees the entire creative process Justin they are less responsible for individual visual components and more for the unique visual style and project’s intent. For this reason, art directors work closely with people in other departments who develop artwork, layouts, write copy, and more. Directors guide these different departments to help ensure all individuals are working towards the same unified vision and that every component of a project comes together to form a cohesive visual whole. In addition to a thorough knowledge of design software, art directors must have in order to succeed in this field. First and foremost, art directors must be artistic and imaginative. They must be great communicators and able to listen and speak with staff and clients to ensure they understand employees’ thinking processes and the client’s desires. They must have leadership skills, and the ability to direct, organize, and motivate others. They must have time-management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize duties, and be willing to continually learn new techniques and design technology to keep up-to-date and current.

Hope this was Helpful Justin

Hi Justin
Interesting question...I'm wondering if you like or don't like meetings? HMMMM. Some people love them, some not so much.

However you feel about them, please understand that being an art director is being a manager of people and projects. To check in with the people whom they mange, and to initiate new projects, art directors need to hold meetings. What shape the meetings take, and how long they last, and how often they occur, are usually up to the individual manager. So, if you don't like meetings, please recognize their importance in getting projects done. And never let on in a job interview that you dislike meetings; they are important and your positive attitude towards meetings would be an asset in any organization.
