Hi Aaron,
I think the most enjoyable feeling is turning a "Blah" space, into the "Wow Factor." Creating that visual affect for everybody can be very difficult, not all people see things the same! Some people are not accepting of a lot of change. This is a challenge that all designers face in design or decorative ideas. Take the time with the client and get to know their like and dislikes, that is important! When the client is happy, then you get paid and that is what's the most enjoyable.
Visiting a client for the first time you need to listen intently on what they are saying. Comprehend what ideas they have and if they are fundamentally sound. Understanding their style can be achieved just by walking into an area, observing and taking notes. Throwing some creative and unique ideas out there can get the client to visualize. Having a computer program can help with visualization.
Interior Design and Interior Decorator are two different entities, often thought as one in the same. Design can deal with structural construction changes, as where decorating does not have that formal training and focuses on the aesthetics and the surface appearance of a space.

William recommends the following next steps:

Professional interior designers require focused schooling and formal training. Online universities such as, University of Phoenix, Purdue University Global, Southern New Hampshire University are just a few
Knowing where and what to spend the big money on . Budget crunching ideas, such as the use of painting techniques can trim a budget.
Lighting is the second rule of thumb include this in a budget.
Using small accent pieces can personalize a space.
Do not push furniture against a wall, give it a few inches away.

Rebecca’s Answer

Personally, I enjoy the fact that no two days, no two projects are the same! There is a lot of variety in tasks and in the end products. Creating an environment where the end user can accomplish his/her goals (whether work or personal) is a great feeling. There is quite a bit of team work, which I really enjoy -- many disciplines come together to make up the finished space. Everyday learning on the job is enjoyable!
