I dont work at the Fashion industry but experience working with one of our clients at Old Navy, con I would say is that retail gets impacted easily by pandemic.
Also future trends for fashion is being focused on recycled, reused clothing. So consignment stores, stores that sell great second hand clothing. A lot of consumers are now aware of carbon footprint.
Pros: Able to release your creativity. Anything can be art as we can see based on fashion shows, it's just how you depict it.

Hi Shaun,
Working in fashion sounds glamorous, exciting and brimming with artistic creativity. My sister graduated from Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and loved working in fashion merchandising in Los Angeles some time ago. It made an indelible mark on her but the industry was intensely competitive She tried for years to get ahead and become a buyer, but didn't have any luck since the retail market is very dynamic and she didn't have the right contacts. I don't think she regretted her decision and she was very happy. Pursuing her passion took a great amount of courage and she had memorable experiences. The downside was that she was extremely poor while she was trying to make her way.
Everyone is unique with their own set of skills and experience. Needless to say, your experiences will be different from hers. I think it's perfectly admirable to pursue your passion, and it's also perfectly okay to have a plan B if things don't work out with the first plan. The point is that you're still young and can make decisions that can be changed later. So while you're weighing the pros and cons of what to do, think of the kind of work that you will find rewarding but also think about how you'll be able to support yourself along the way. Hope this helps!
