I am not a pro but my cousin was a professional soccer player in Mexico. It really depends on the sport you choose to pursue and the country you're in. Soccer is the main sport in Mexico so it only took him about 2 years for him to go pro. He was in the academy for about 3 years and then got called to the amateur team and made it to 1st division by the age of 19. In the U.S, it's hard to be a professional in any sports at a really young age.

It depends on what you are talking about. I'm guessing sports. It also depends on the type of sports. Some sports like basketball, the NBA doesn't allow kids to go pro straight out of high school regardless of talent level. Other sports you may be able to turn pro as early post high school, so 18 years old.
If you are dead set on becoming a pro in a sport, understand the likelihood is very low, think 1 out of millions. And things like injuries or uncovered medical conditions can end a pro career at any time as well. So make sure you have a backup in place!
