From the perspective of my experience in IT (Information Technology), there are a lot of advantages.

Advantages:
-- Never short on job offers and there is a decent amount of security
-- In IT (Information Technology) segment, there are opportunities for flexible, remote work
-- Good benefits and perks typically
-- Lot of opportunities to grow as businesses grow and can stay with a company for a long time with different roles
-- Always evolving, so things don't get boring and you can learn a lot
-- You can develop a lot of skills that you can use in the working world and explore different certifications
-- Overall, technology is a pretty progressive space
-- Good amount of diversity in a global working space with opportunities to work across different countries and cultures
-- Opportunities to stay up to date with new technology
-- If you are customer-facing, you can build relationships with people in different industries and make an impact on their businesses

Disadvantages:
-- Depending on the company, can sometimes feel like you are "always on"
-- In customer-facing roles, there can also be pressure to provide products and services to other companies that rely on you
-- In earlier stage startup companies, there can be a lot of risks and less stability
-- In IT, there can be a lot of meetings
