What degree did you get when you went into business management?
I'm in middle school and I am taking a career class. After I took a survey for career paths, business management was one of them. I'm looking for what degree someone needs in order to go into business management. #career #business

I got a degree in business administration with concentrations in accounting and economics. This helped me understand the general forces behind business as well as how to bookkeep and more specific roles.

Get a degree in the field or industry that attracts you and then move towards business management in that area.
Solely getting a business management degree might not be helpful as all industries involve project management, planning, business management, operations etc. and it's important that you have an understanding of a particular field to start with and then grow into business management from there by getting additional degrees or certifications.

I have an undergrad degree in International Business and also an MBA in project management. If you want to go into business management, it doesn't necessarily require a degree in business management. I would definitely recommend getting a degree in something that you are passionate about and maybe minor in business management. You can also get management experience along the way.

For a career in business management, you want to learn about a lot of things. You want to be "well-rounded." The reasons for this are that you never know what kind of business you will work for, and also that every aspect of the world can affect a business. I have two degrees: one in Business and one in History. The Business degree taught me things like accounting (keeping track of money coming into and going out of the business); strategic planning (setting plans and knowing what to measure along the way to be sure you stay on track); finance (different ways to borrow and invest [make money on your money]); and human resources (breaking work down into different jobs, figuring out how much they should be paid; measuring whether people are doing the jobs well). The History degree taught me things like how governments influence or sometimes fully control how business happens; and how business ideas of the past have helped or hurt their countries and citizens. In practical terms, the History degree also taught me how to investigate the source of any information to be able to judge how right, wrong, or exaggerated it is, and also how to be a better writer.

I got my associates degree in business administration first at a community college which I highly recommend. General education can be done at community college and a 10th of the cost. I then transferred to Sacramento State University. Finished my bachelors degree in Business Marketing. (BS degree). From here I jumped into a retail sales position at Verizon and worked my way up to first Retails Sales Management and then Business Account Manager.
