Pamela’s Answer

The first thing I would recommend is to volunteer with children's classes or programs as you can. This will give you a good experience base and will help you decide if you really like it. When I was in college some of my fellow students did not have to do their first field experience as they had been in various settings with children. The hours they had been involved at sites gave them some credits toward the hours they needed. They may still do that. Next, I would look into college programs and the ask about the number of years you would need to study to get your bachelor's degree. Check to be sure you can get a 4-year degree when you can. One University here in Ohio was switching to a 6-year program. Decide what age group you want to work with and what your focus will be. Do you want to teach kindergarten? High School Spanish? I know that is not easy to decide now but as you go through school think about the topics you enjoy most. Those might be the ones you would want to teach. Also, are you active? Would you want to teach classes that involve activities? Do you love to read and write? Perhaps English would be a topic for you.
At this time in life, I would also explore jobs related to a career in education. Did you know there is a career where you use games etc for therapy? There are many ways you can teach and help others. You can also be a physical therapist, speech therapist, psychologist and more. Hope these ideas help. Best wishes.

Hey Jonathon,
They steps towards teaching would be something similar to:

Pass required exams in the school district and/or state (like the Praxis).
Submit a state teaching license application.
