Hi Piarra,
Learning about careers at your age is a great way to explore your options for the future.
Asking about salaries is a great question. The average starting salary for graduating interior designers is approximately $30,000/year. After about 20 years the average salary is approximately $ 90,000/year. These are average numbers, you can make more or less.
It is best to get your professional license or accreditation from the American Society for Interior Designers (ASID) or the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Commercial interior designers tend to make more than residential unless you're doing very high-end (expensive) residential work.
Interior designers can also act as procurement (buying) agents, buying the furnishings, light fixtures, wallpaper, etc for their clients. This is usually a great way to establish an income after you have several years of experience, mentoring, and training.
I suggest you look into architecture. You can concentrate on interior architecture and design, and merge the two design fields.
Best of luck researching careers.
