Take a look at the US Bureau of Labor Statistics web page. Information specifically for students is here: https://www.bls.gov/k12/students/
You can click through on individual professions / experience levels / location to get exactly the data that you want. And, it will help you build graphs and maps if you need to include those in your report. It is also a citation if you need citations.

Thank you for your question. I live in Ontario, Canada so my salary may not compare to the United States. In Ontario, we have 4 levels on the pay grid based on education. After 11 years, you max out, meaning you are at the top of your pay grid and your income after that point, only grows based on collective agreements. As an elementary school teacher, I make just shy of 100,000. That would be about 70,000USD. Having special education qualifications does not help you unless you started at a lower pay grid when you starting teaching and are using your qualifications to add to your educational experience. With that being said, since I received my qualifications as a specislist in special education, I have been able to secure more desirable teaching positions. Just be careful that this is a field you really want to get into because one you have your specialist in a certain field, you may be ,"pigeon holed" into teachering something you no longer wish to do. This happens a lot in Canada to teachers who hold their french qualifications. Good luck! Teaching is a fantastic profession and there are lots of opportunities to try new things.
