Question: What is the best thing about manufacturing? It's constant, multiple challenges. There are so many procedures in any manufacturing process that the challenges to keep them (the procedures) running smoothly and then improve upon them is a constant challenge. This can make for an exciting career.

If you are not an individual who likes challenges then manufacturing is not for you. The constant challenges, if not approached with the right mind set, will wear a person down; mentally and physically.

Manufacturing is to transform materials into a product which could be shipped to end-users for use or to another manufacturer as materials to transform into another product.
Throughout the transformation of materials into product, you need people, machine and process to enable it. There are many functions involved such as demand planning, materials planning, procurement, engineering, production, quality, IT, warehouse, shipping & logistics, trade compliance, human resources and finance (especially costing) & may be more depending on industry.
The most challenging part of manufacturing is to get the product out the door at the right cost and at the right time.
Given the above, you should realize that it is definitely a complex field to be in, but the best part is that you will have a lot to learn and diverse functions for you ot expose to.
Even though there are more automations in place with AI or robotic enabled in manufacturing, I believe that human mind in partnership with machine is still key success factor to the industry.

Seeing completed products roll off the line and out to customers provides a real sense of accomplishment and completion. In some industries or functions you don't always get that sense of "completion" for your work. Along the same lines, the output of your work in manufacturing is usually something you can see and touch, so it's gratifying to "see" the results of your work.
