Hey Jonathon,

It depends on what government position you are thinking of. There is a website that has a lot of government positions. Check out www.usajobs.gov.

Chantell’s Answer

Hi Jonathan, there are several different types of occupations in the government. I’m currently in a government funded program called AmeriCorps NCCC. I’m working with the Bureau of Land Management out in California doing a lot of environmental stewardship work. My projects change every couple of weeks, but a lot of the work I do is data collection on water, protecting sensitive habitats, fuels reduction, trail maintenance, and maintenance at different types of recreation sites.

I plan on getting a position with the government after my service term doing the same type of work.

If you’re interested in government jobs usajobs.gov is a great resource. Starting out in a program like AmeriCorps or PeaceCorps is also a nice way to start off and gain some experience!
