Hi Mira! What a great question. What drove me to want to take on more responsibility was knowing the additional impact I can make for the company, its' people and our customers. That drives me to want to continue this journey! Best of luck to you.

Hi Mira,

Personally, I like leadership! There is a lot of responsibility as you're responsible not only for yourself but for other employees, the company and the customer.

To go all the way to the top and be the CEO, you typically have to have a strong educational background. In addition to that a wide variety of leadership experience. Typically you'd complete a Bachelor degree in either business or economics. It's also very common to pursue an MBA.

Some of the skills needed are good communicator. Decisiveness... Making quick decisions is key! Ethical and growth oriented and I like CEOs that are visionaries. However, not all are.

I hope this helps!!

Hi there,

Cool question to bring up !

To become a Chief Executive can mean many different things, Mira. The thing that all Chief Executives have in common is that they have the full responsibility for the business that they are responsible for... for the people working there, for the customer relationships, for the way products are produced or bought, the finances... all parts of the business they lead - it’s a cool thing to be able to do all these things or work with a team that helps to do all of this with you. But what can be very different is the actual business: the shop owner of the bakery next door or the restaurant you go to is in fact a chief executive because he/she has as well that full responsibility. And then there is any size of business where the person on top is a chief executive... from the one person Internet business to the boss of e.g. Apple. To get to the top of one of the big companies is a long long way... where the best chance to get there is to absolutely excel at what your doing / what job your doing in a company at any moment in time, so that people see what you are capable to do... and give you chances to learn. Anyhow, whether very small or very big company... to have the chance of being a chief executive is very rewarding and exciting.. while needed all of your best almost all the time, so you got to be ready for that challenge. All the best and good luck !!!
