Christopher ’s Answer

A portfolio manager is responsible for investing money on behalf of clients. The asset classes they can invest in can be one or more of stocks, bonds, real estate, etc (this is agreed upon when the client gives the manager the money to manage). The PM monitors the financial markets and news and comes up with trade ideas to implement in the portfolios. Most of the day is spent doing research and figuring out how to best position the portfolio based on your economic views and views on specific companies or financial securities.
