The Musicians Survival Guide To The Road; A Survival Handbook & All Access Backstage Pass To Touring, by Susan Voelz, is one of the best printed resources to answer your question. Im sure it's available on Kindle as well as iBooks. The author uses real world examples from her years of experience on the road to help the reader get the most out of their first tour.

Hi, Katie!
Personally, I find staying healthy is the hardest part about being on tour itself. Getting enough sleep and exercise between cities, and eating right when you don't have a kitchen can be really challenging.
Psychologically - coming home can also be really hard. "Tour Blues" - is a term that we use sometimes to describe the emotional ups and downs that come with the job. A lot of the time when you're on stage or adventuring around new cities the adrenaline and excitement your body produces is at an all time high. Then, once you're home and making your own coffee in your small apartment in L.A., it can be a little sad to settle back into the real world.
I wish you the absolute best on your venture to being a touring artist!
It has been my favourite job - and I cannot wait until Covid is under control so we can get back to it!
