What is a good start up job right after college that will prepare you to learn about the day to day responsibilities of a sports agent?

I am a currently a high school senior in Florida. I am looking to continue my education in college with a degree in sports management or business/ sports law. Afterwards I plan to attend law school in order to pursue a successful career as a sports agent. This school year I am doing an internship at a sports agent firm and want to know in what ways I can put myself out there to get the most beneficial experience. #business #law #sports-management #sports-agent #negotiation

I would get well connected with your peers as well as past interns and see what standing they are in after the internship. Base your achievements on their paths.

I think the best agents have a strong understanding of how professional sports team are structured from a front office/administrative perspective. With that in mind I suggest you consider applying for an entry level job with a professional team to gain this knowledge before transferring to the agent business.

Read as much as you can about the career paths of other sports agents. If you have access to folks already in the profession, for example through your school or network, reach out to them and have as many informational interviews as possible. People generally love to be asked for their advice and love to talk about their own experiences. Treat informational interviews as seriously as you would a more formal interview -- a good impression could land you a job down the line!
