Mary’s Answer
Database is a collection of information in the computer organized in rows, columns, tables, and other structures. For example, a toy store could have a database on the computer where they record all toy names they sell, their prices, how many they have at the store (in the inventory), and anything else the store needs. When you go through the cash register to buy a toy, the cashier will scan the bar code of the toy and that will pull the name of the toy from the database to the cashier's screen. That way the cashier can take the payment and print out the receipt.
