Hi Shridar,

Education management master's programs teach students the skills needed to understand shifting state and federal policies in education and effectively organize the material and human resources of an educational institution. A master's in education management can prepare students for leadership positions at educational institutions. Because many of these programs are designed for professionals with education experience, online and part-time formats are widely available. Enrolled students can continue working full-time while pursuing an advanced degree.

Graduates with a master's in education management have several career options in administrative roles at public and private schools. Employment may be found as an elementary, middle or secondary school principal or assistant principal, or director or supervisor for a preschool or a child care center. Education management graduates can also serve in postsecondary schools as dean of students, department head or chief academic officer at a college or university.

Program Curriculum
Through lecture-based coursework and hands-on internships, students learn about the differing philosophies of educational leadership and how those philosophies affect policy and administration. They learn how to evaluate educational programs and curriculum, as well as how to supervise and assess instruction. Education management programs may include courses such as:

Educational theory
Organizational theory and administration
Supervision of instructors
Administration and supervision research
Educational research
Leadership and management assessment
Curriculum development and evaluation
School law
Finance in administration

Courses offered and required will vary slightly by school, as well as by the concentration of the major. For example, a program concentration in management specialization will have several different required classes than a concentration in student affairs or educational policy.
