Kathy’s Answer

Not UCSB, that's for sure! Our Economics program heavily funnels students into working for the Big 4 as accountants.

With that being said, while the school you go to can help a lot, what's most important are the connections you make via networking and internship experience.
Thank you comment icon I can appreciate this honesty, Kathy! 😅 Do you know if there are other schools in the UC system known for their business program that you might recommend instead? Alexandra Carpenter, Admin

Connor’s Answer

I am currently at the University of Michigan studying sport management. I have thoroughly enjoyed the program and have learned a lot. The curriculum is taught by very experienced faculty that portrays their message very effectively. The class sizes are small and allow you to interact with other students and faculty. Overall, there is a great community to it and I would highly recommend the program.

I am not in the sports management field but I am a UMass Amherst Alumni and currently enrolled in their MBA program. UMass Amherst has a great sports management for both bachelors and masters degrees. https://www.isenberg.umass.edu/programs/depts/sport-mgmt

Betty’s Answer

The best schools to get an MBA (master of business administration) in the SF bay area are Stanford and UC Berkeley, but depending on your goals and your grades, a lower tier university or college might serve the same purpose as well. SF State and USF are really good colleges and there are also local colleges with good MBA programs as well. I studied at Golden Gate University first to get my database administration certification that allowed me to enter the database engineering field, and then later got my MBA. I emphasize MBA because most employers perceive the MBA more seriously than BA and they've come to expect it by default. Hope this helps.

Julie’s Answer

As mentioned above, UMass Amherst is a very strong school for business and has been rapidly growing. The school gives you the opportunity to enter as an undeclared business major and try a variety of business classes before declaring a major. A main benefit is also the fact that it is a state school and tuition is much more affordable than many well known business schools. Good luck!
