Srishti, you should work with the office for international students on your campus to make sure you understand the rules of your visa for working in the US after completing your undergraduate degree. You likely need to secure a position that is related to your major and you may need an employer to sponsor you. Many large research universities and medical schools have lab tech positions that visa holders can apply to but there are also some good options in industry. I recommend visiting your career center on campus as well because they may have databases of job postings in your field that allow international applicants. They can also assist you with creating a resume, drafting cover letters, and practicing for interviews. Good luck!

Dear Srishti,
If you are interested in getting laboratory experience then you should apply for laboratory technician jobs in an academic laboratory. Many universities and laboratory Principal Investigators will allow technicians to take a course per semester tuition free. In that case, you can also get additional credits and be better prepared for graduate school. Some laboratories may require you to have prior experience whereas some may recommend but not require prior laboratory experience.
