On a daily basis, how much radiation is a radiologist exposed to?
I want to know if this job is somewhat dangerous. Radiology has always been curious to me, but I need to know everything before I make the jump in furthering my education. #x-rays

Hello,
"The practicing radiologist in the United States receives an annual average x-ray dose of 3.2 mSv. This dose of radiation results in between 17 and 28 cancer deaths among the 19,000 radiologists at risk, or an excess cancer risk of between 0.53% and 0.87%."

There are certainly precautions that you can and ought to take to limit exposure. Just remember that all activities pose some nature of risk this is the realty of life. The question is simply is the risk worth it to you?
Best Wishes!
