Everyone's schedule is different when it comes to the world of becoming an analyst. Some people learn quicker than others, some take a slower time due to the detail involved in the information. The industry is also a factor. My advice is to look at the industry, you may want to stay in government.

Christine’s Answer

I work in a large corporation as a capital financial analyst. The role consists of daily approval of capital budget spend on projects and purchase order approvals. Monthly, I consolidate capital spend results, analyzing the actuals against the plan and reporting commentary on the differences. On a quarterly basis I consolidate any transfers of budget from one group to another, to better align money to where is will be spent. I report up to senior management about the budget changes and about the projects that are being worked on. I work in company based data cubes as well as with excel and power point. Of course, if you are considering the investment side of financial analysis, the routine will be totally different.
