How can the idea of agency help me when making career decisions?
Agency is the ability to make choices in the world. People are called into different subject positions and once an individual is called into a subject position they lose agency. #psychology #english #sociology

Hi, I wouldnt look to an agency to make a decision for you.. You should think about something that you are passionate and interested in that makes you happy to get up and go to office everyday..
Please identify what would make you happy and take that path.

Wow! I had never heard the term "idea of agency" while studying sociology.
All jobs require a degree of conformity. If it is important to you to have some autonomy in your work, you will need to consider what careers give you that latitude. Ideas that immediately come to mind are things like marketing or advertising. But every job has dress codes, attendance requirements, etc. And even at those jobs that are more liberal, you will feel the pressures to conform. Co-workers will make comments or give you "the look" if you do something outside of the norm. For many of my co-workers, I have noticed a "dual personality." They have a "work-self" and a "not-at-work self." It's actually quite interesting to observe, and to learn about the non-work selves of co-workers. People who are very conforming at work suddenly unleash their other-self when they hit the parking lot. I personally have only one self. I am very down-to-earth when dealing with my clients, and they appreciate it!
Good luck with whatever you decide to pursue!

Hi Liana,
The literary agents I know are pitching action/thriller and horror scripts frantically. If you have an inner "voice", then develop for your strength and clarity that will attract an audience. Then decide who you want to impress. Best wishes.
