The research I read shows that the educational process to become a cardiac surgeon is one of the longest in the medical field. First off, you must complete four years of college, then four years of medical school, a four or five year general surgery residency and then a two to three year specialized cardio or cardiothoracic fellowship.

It's a big commitment! However, if it's what you love doing, it's worth it!!
