What are the benefits of volunteering on websites that involves Q&A or taking surveys?

I recently had a referral to this website by a LinkedIn listing. It stated that I need to ask at least 10 questions per week. This seems to be an easy task, but I was wondering if is worth it. How do sites like LinkedIn know that I've been doing some commitment by asking questions on this site? As for survey sites, are they worth adding to a resume?

Thank you comment icon Hi vidal, Even i got this by linkedin. I thought this would be helpful to put in my resume but what i feel now is there is no proof that we are volunteering for this non profit organization. I feel this as a marketing strategy to bring traffic for them. Anush Reddy

Of course it's worth it Vidal! I may be biased, since I'm a CareerVillage team member:), but regardless, it's super important for you to be planning and preparing for your future now and this is a great way to start doing that. By asking questions you have about college, careers, and other things regarding your future on CareerVillage, you're getting questions answered by experienced professionals that many of your peers will also benefit from reading. Thousands of young people visit CareerVillage each week to ask and learn about thousands of career topics to start preparing for their future, so the advice professionals post up in response to your questions could be read thousands of times, helping thousands of students like you-- that's powerful! ..And definitely worth putting on your resume. Beyond helping your peers get the answers to their career questions, showcasing that you're serious about your future and spending the time thinking about and preparing for it using a site like CareerVillage would be super impressive to potential employers.

What kind of survey sites are you using?

Thank you comment icon Hi Lindsey, I am happy to see that the team members of careervillage are responding but i want to know how asking questions benefits me as a volunteer ? Anush Reddy
Thank you comment icon @anush As I mentioned above, by surfacing Qs you have about your future, you're also surfacing the answers to Qs a ton of other students will benefit from reading. Since all CareerVillage Q&A is indexed into Google, it's accessible to anyone who finds it, so the answers posted onto the Qs you submit will be read by a lot of young people. In addition to asking Qs, you can also upvote advice you read that you find especially valuable which makes it more visible, and tells other users that it's worth reading. Lindsey Manning-Djabbari
Thank you comment icon As for your resume, you can add something like: Student Volunteer on CareerVillage.org Helping to spread the word about CareerVillage.org, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides young people with personalized advice from actual professionals online, and support my peers in getting college and career ready. Thank you comment icon Thanks for the responses. I'll use this site anytime I have a question about my career. Vidal

NIRMALA’s Answer

Hi Vidal:

For production and sales of a product it is very important to know what people think about the product that's why survey or Q/A is very important. By survey, companies can gather valuable information about that product whether they like the product and why they like it, why they don't like it so companies can modify the product. To make product best for customer's it is very important to get the opinion of people and it is done thru telephone survey, on-line survey or face to face survey. Best product best sales and profit for the company.

Thank you comment icon Thanks for the response Vidal

Jared’s Answer, CareerVillage.org Team

Hi Anush and Vidal. I just want to emphasize that (1) when you post a question that you think other students need to know the answer to, I absolutely consider that volunteering with us because we need your help to identify all of the types of things that youth are looking for the answer to, and (2) you can absolutely get proof of your volunteering! Anytime you need it, just ask us for a letter on our nonprofit organization's official letterhead that explains what type of volunteering you're doing and why it is so impactful for the rest of our students. We write them all the time!
