Hi Keely!

This is a good question! At the same time, it's a tough question! I think that the short answer is "yes".

There are times that being a Veterinarian is like being on an emotional roller coaster! Think about it. There will definitely be times when you can’t save an animal. There are instances when you may have to perform euthanasia to help animals and owners from unnecessary suffering. As you can imagine, these types of events can leave you emotionally broken.

Here's why so many do it! You’ll have the chance to help animals. As a veterinarian, you'll have the skills and knowledge you need to treat dogs, cats, and other animals and put them on the road to recovery! You’ll have a job that you love. You’ll definitely run into many challenges. However, these challenges will be worth it since you'll be following your passion and helping pets and pet owners. You'll be surrounded by different animals! Everyday can be different. One day you're working on a kitty cat and the next, you're treating horses. You'll be following your passion and this makes it all worth a little emotional stress. Do what you love and love what you do!!

Is it mundane? Maybe at times... Day after day, treating sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds and performing surgery. Collecting samples like body tissue, feces, blood and urine to be analysed. This is you passion! This is what you live for!

If you don't get emotional, there's something wrong.

Follow your dream!
