Clinical Psychology, as a profession, has been enriched by many people with strong foundations in the liberal arts, fine arts, and other disciplines. Depending on the kind of program you decide to pursue, the requirements to study psychology vary widely. In general, PhD programs in clinical psychology expect students with a broad foundation in psychological science, as well as research experience in the field. For most students, being a psychology major, completing an honors thesis, assisting with faculty research and possibly seeking clinical volunteer experiences serve as the preparation for the highly competitive admissions process to clinical psychology doctoral programs. Another avenue to pursue training in clinical psychology is in PsyD programs. These programs tend to emphasize clinical practice over scientific research and accept a broader range of students with respect to their backgrounds and preparation. Most still require a certain number of psychology courses for students who did not major in psychology.

A lot of students tend to change their major in college or even not end up doing anything related to their major! I know art and clinical psychology might not have much in common but it requires a whole lot of knowledge and analysis. As long as you do the other requirements for clinical psychology, most programs or jobs will accept you! I would say talk to a counselor more on this issue especially if the case is that you want to switch majors cause they can definitely help you be more geared to psych.
