Matthew’s Answer

Yes you absolutely can; having a degree closely related to your job is not unheard of. For example there are many in my corporation that hold marketing degrees but are successful in operations or engineering. So if it not a huge difference you should be fine

Keith’s Answer

I sure hopes so, but understand you make your opportunities. If you make connections through your coureswork, leverage those relationships both during and after school concludes to start building your network. Many never get a job within their field of study, but if you are lucky enough to do so and land in a role, you can feel fortunate.

A degree does not mean automatic hiring. Hiring managers are still looking for job fit, skill level, diversity, etc. The degree may help you get into the interview room, but ultimately, you will need to deliver in that setting as the best option.
Thank you comment icon HI Keith! Do you have any advice regarding the field in the student's question? I think they might be curious about their odds of getting hired / factors affecting that when it comes to their field specifically. Alexandra, Admin
Thank you comment icon In every field mentioned in the question, education is helpful. Economics and industry Psychology are fields full of premiere academics in their respective fields. Job opportunities for both of those would be greatly improved by having an underlying Bachelor's degree. Regarding management, every business has a need for management. You may not necessarily need a degree to get into management. In lieu of a degree, years of experience is a widely accepted alternative. Keith Rodgers
