Brandon’s Answer
At one time, I was a mechanic and I still work in the automotive industry. I’ve seen starting pay around $10 an hour and the most experienced mechanics can go up to $40 an hour. The pay varies a lot by your experience, certifications, education, the type of mechanical work you do, area you live in, etc. Pay structures can vary as well. Most inexperienced mechanics get paid a hourly wage while the more experienced mechanics get paid only on commission. You can research online resources for more information, such as the Occupation Outlook Handbook by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Bryant’s Answer
It will depend on the experience and education a person makes
If you want to be a mechanic look at getting both since it will give you a better foundation but also looking at maybe working at a single car dealership to grow more than one that has a lot of companies and models where the knowledge will not be as high
In any career path look at the passion and not the salary since being a mechanic requires a lot of knowledge
