Hi Yurady!

If you want to become a radiologist you basically need to become a doctor so you're looking at about 13 years of education, maybe more. After graduating high school you would need to earn a bachelor's degree. Then medical school. An internship and residency. A fellowship and finally licensure and certifications.

If you're interested in becoming a radiology tech, there are training and certificate programs that take around a year, as well as associate's and bachelor's degrees that take anywhere from two to four years. So after high school, you would Apply for and attend an accredited undergraduate radiologist technology program (two to four years). Apply for certification and registration with ARRT which has to be renewed every two years.

Hope this helps!

Hi Yurady,

Becoming a radiologist is a very rewarding path, albeit a long one. Like Mark said, it requires 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, 5 years of residency, and possibly 1-2 more years of fellowship before you become an attending radiologist.

In college, you'll have to take a set of pre-requisite course to apply to medical school which include an array of science, math, and humanities courses as well as the MCAT exam.

Hope you find this informative!
