Stephani’s Answer

You would go through nursing school just like any other nurse, and then you would find a job on an oncology unit or clinic. If it is something you love, and you get a couple years experience with it, you would be eligible to take the OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) test an be certified in this area. Nursing school gives you a little taste of a variety of types of nursing, so you would just have to find a hospital that treats pediatric cancer patients that is offering a job. Much of the specialized learning you do as a nurse is learned on the job. You are provided with core nursing knowledge that can be applied to every field of nursing, which gives the graduate the chance to work in any area they choose to!
