My first response to how easy is it to find a job placement in the biomedical industry directly out of college, is don’t worry about it too much. As a junior, you may have up to five years before you are looking in the full time job market. Job markets change all the time. That being said, placement is also very dependent on where in the country you live. In the Boston area there are far more jobs in the industry than other locations in the mid country for example.
To help yourself in placement, each summer look for internships, and learning opportunities. Many companies that have had successful interns will hire those interns at entry level positions after several summers of experience. Engineering degrees are in general very much in demand, and unemployment rates are lower than many other fields. Biomedical engineering is a still expanding field as well, seeking qualified candidates.
So don’t lose too much sleep over it now, focus on expanding your network, and getting to know people in the field, and interning. Show you are a good worker in those times available to you, and I think the jobs will be much easier to find.
