Figuring out what you wish to do for a career when you're young is not an easy choice. I remember wanted to be a medical technician, then an accountant. Neither worked for me once I started taking vocational classes in those fields. I stopped college and decided to get a job. That led to jobs in management in the retail industry and the corporate world. Then I returned to college to get a bachelor degree. The best advice I have for you is to pick one area that sounds interesting and chose that to start. If that doesn't work, expand to something else. The good news is that you can learn experiences, build relationships, and job skills why you experiment in school and in jobs. What you want to avoid is going to college for something you don't enjoy (or even hate), because that won't be a good existent. However, the more you try different disciplines or experiment in different courses, the more opportunity you have to find something you do enjoy or have passion around. Good luck.

When I was in school, we had no testing, no counselors, and my parents gave me no help in decision-making. I knew they expected me to go to college and be successful and it was not easy for them to afford to send me. Therefore, I was most concerned about wasting money and time studying for a career in which I would continue. There were also no community colleges, so going to college without a goal was a scary thing. I spent some time in thought and a helpful aunt assisted me in choosing a direction from which I could branch out in several ways. I ultimately ended up in education, which I was not interested in earlier, but I found my way to counseling since I was not fond of classroom teaching. I was constantly reading, asking questions, and I found a very helpful mentor with my cooperating teacher when I was student teaching. She was the lead counselor at the school, and she was very helpful in steering me toward a career doing counseling in the schools and later private counseling. I would not recommend letting your career evolve in this manner, but now there are counselors in schools, aptitude tests, and lots of career books you can check out earlier than your senior year. And remember, most adults change careers about 3 times, so sometimes talking to people and taking part-time jobs in some areas will teach you as much about what you are not suited for as what you will love.
Best of luck,

Hi Elvin! First of all, don't worry about not knowing what to do; that's fine, there are adults older than you that don't know either. It is important to know what you enjoy doing, then imagine yourself working on it and make money to live happy. You also have the choice to look for some jobs descriptions on internet related to the activity you chose and have an idea of what requires. Also, don't think too much about how difficult it can be, most of the time we study something and adapt your knowledge to be applied in something a bit different. What matter the most is that you are thinking in your future and want to be prepare.
Think about something you like and start from it in college; simple as that (general first). In the journey, you might discover other areas you enjoy the most and you can add classes that can help you to develop the knowledge on it.
As an example of this, my daughter loved music and she sings, so she went to the University to study a Bachelor in Music. However, in the process, she started to add classes for a minor in Business and now, she will be graduating with two minors (Business and Economy). She discovered that those are her passion, but still gets the bachelor's in Music.
Enjoy live and learning! Remember, enjoy the journey and the process, that what will make you really successful in life!
