Information Technology is useful in almost all the fields and military is no exception, encryption technologies like RSA, GPS all came from military and this will continue in future too, AI/ML has added a new dimension, robots to diffuse bombs, automated flying machines, intelligent survelliance cameras capable of detecting anamolies, the possibilities are endless

Hi Brandon,
Great question! Technology is all around us in everything we do in our daily lives and yes it's critically important in the military. I personally have not been in the military, but from what I know there are numerous opportunities to learn about information technology in the military. From electronic warfare, cyber security, and military communication systems all involve IT systems and the military needs soldiers trained to operate and maintain them. Cyber security is real hot right now, so an opportunity to learn and work in that field while serving your country would be a great thing!
Best of luck!

Hey Brandon,
I can personally attest to the power of IT in the armed forces.
I was a 35 T in the Army. Worked along side 35 G/H/N just for a few. Not to mention the entire 25 series MOS positions.
The military helped me get to where I am today. A Senior IT Engineer.
If you're considering a career in IT. I highly recommend the Military. You'll get hands on training , non stop.

Short answer - YES
Longer answer - Heck yes! With the global environment changing with technology daily, our armed forces must be steps ahead of the latest to ensure we properly protect our interests. If you have a desire to contribute in this field, the military is the best breeding ground to gain knowledge.

Info Tech is here to stay in all verticals and industries. The military has a huge need for IT....from managing their networks in the field (mobile units and others) to local Bases/Forts/etc (Fort Knox, Andrews AFB, etc) to their larger scale integrated networks. Cybersecurity of course is part of IT and is HUGE in the military....and the need will only grow.
