How to decide which branch of nursing I should do?

Hello, I am an aspiring nurse major. I am currently a senior in high school and am curious about the various types of nursing degrees and jobs I could possibly go into. I love helping people, and my passion in life is to be able to give back to the world in the caring for people. I would also like to make a good amount of income, as I could like to be financially stable as well as be able to give back to my parents. I enjoy working with people but professionally with peers, mostly by myself but can handle groups and teams. I enjoy problem-solving and independence and don't mind working long hours. What could be the fitting nursing career for me? #nursing #nurse #healthcare #registered-nurses #nurse-practitioner #nurse-midwife

Entry-level RNs, depending on where you practice, start around $55-60K a year, so that in itself isn't bad. As far as nursing careers that make more money than others, obviously more intense & specialized work will earn you more money but that requires time being put in the field. Most hospitals reward their nurses with higher salaries depending on the time they have invested in nursing & in the company. Also, the higher your level of education, a Bachelor's prepared nurse versus a Master's level prepared nurse, can potentially earn more. Another way to get monetary incentives from work is getting certified in the field that you are currently or aspire to be involved in. Certification run a gamut but they usually require someone to be practicing for at least 3 years in that field of nursing.

Bottom line, getting paid more money in nursing depends on where you work (geographically: big cities versus suburbs), your level of education, & the amount of the time you've been a nurse.

Good luck!
