Is love, health and wealth really the only three things a person needs to be happy and feel successful?

I'm a high school senior and I've been reading a lot about performing in the real world. I feel that love, health, and wealth are the three essential elements that every book and motivational speaker has stated. If this is true, I'd like to know how I can find a job that will allow me to reach all three of these goals. #business #speakers #entrepreneurs #men #motivational

I would also add to this by saying you are in charge of your career and your life! Happiness is a choice - be calculated in the things you do to ensure you set yourself up for it. And it is defined differently by everyone, so know from the outset what makes YOU happy, then do whatever you need to do to achieve it. :)

I would echo what most everyone else has said -- happiness is a choice and the components that piece together your happiness can only be determined by you.

What I recommend is always follow your heart and gut. It usually leads you to where you belong. If you are not happy in a job -- whether it be attributed to bad pay, negative impacts to health, or you just don't find purpose in it, that is your heart and gut leading you in a different direction. Follow it, but be wise and strategic in your pathing. Ensure you have done what is necessary to get where you are going-- that starts with understanding how to get there, pathing it, and setting goals (long and short term).

Joanne’s Answer

Oddly, having a sound financial plan really helps with the happy and successful part.

Be honest with yourself about the lifestyle you want to have.

So, if you pick a career you love that can pay the bills, then you've reached your goal.

If you pick a career that can't pay the bills ... that's another story altogether :)

Hey Joseph K.!

The other thing I would add to this is: happiness itself.

Being in love or having love, being wealthy, and being healthy are all critical, and you can be happy when you see a paycheck, but but are you HAPPY doing what you do if things get hard?

Not every day will be sunshine filled, but iff you hate your job and try to find reasons not to go, I would argue not only is that unhealthy, but it will also lower your quality of life substantially over time.

For some people, this is seeing how what they do positively impacts their community or the world. For others, it's being happy someone liked a painting or screen they designed. But what is it to you?

Rebecca’s Answer

It really depends on what values really crucial to you. Different people have different values. Some may put their family the most important, some may put friendships most import, some may put wealth the most important.

This is more a question to ask yourself rather than asking others. It may change from time to time.

You can consider the career that you are most interested in and start from there. It's really a pain working 8 hours a day on a job you have no interest.

Hope this helps!
